PRESENTING...OUR VERY FIRST TV AD! 📺
At the end of 2023 our idea for our first ever TV commercial was announced as a winner of Sky’s Zero Footprint Fund. This meant that we received £250,000 in media spend on SKY TV channels. We decided to wait and use our spend during our busiest season, so we’re thrilled to finally let you know that it’s officially live and will be on screens from now until December.
THE IDEA:
Our idea was to transparently showcase the journey of two best-selling UpCircle products - our Eye Cream and Face Oil - but to show this entirely in reverse. The source is everything with UpCircle and it’s the source that’s unique to our brand. Our ingredients haven’t just had one life as a skincare ingredient, they’ve had an entire previous life in a completely different industry, being grown and processed for a completely different purpose. We find beauty in everything (and everyone).
MAKING OUR AD:
UpCircle is a brand with authenticity at its core. We intentionally chose to cast a genuine UpCircle customer for our lead talent. Kandia, who appears in our ad, had a true passion for the brand. In her words, “UpCircle is about resilience and fostering a community that genuinely cares about the environment and each other. UpCircle is more than skincare; it’s a down-to-earth connection.”
We didn’t stop there. When our coffee is collected from cafes to be upcycled, it really is Remi who’s in the ad who does this every day! On location Remi felt very at home - because we genuinely do collect from Spinach, the coffee shop featured in our TVC.
Maddie, the barista in the ad, is the real barista at Spinach!
We are a performance-led brand, our amazing circular concept is the added bonus. Our story convinces you to buy once, our performance convinces you to buy again and again. This was the focus of the voiceover and on screen text.

When we discovered that more than 500,000 tonnes of coffee grounds are sent to landfill per year in the UK alone, my brother Will and I started collecting coffee from different cafes across London and transforming them into skincare products.
Now, 8 years later, we have saved 400 tonnes of coffee and rescued 50 other ingredients from the argan, tea, juice, olive, date and furniture industries.
