Following on from our previous Black Lives Matter conversations, we’re back again to amplify the message that eliminating Asian hate crime needs to be part of our anti-racism work. During the pandemic, Asian hate crime has wrongfully sky-rocketed. Most recently, it’s resulted in the awful news hitting our screens of the tragic shootings of Asian Women in Atlanta. Sadly, this type of hate crime has been going on for far too long and is not isolated to America - we all need to do our bit for change.
For many of us, over the past few weeks, we’ve consumed knowledge via social media, articles, podcasts – there's a lot to digest. Again, we need to reflect on our own micro-aggressions, unpack prejudices, beliefs and privilege to educate ourselves and open up conversation. As with Black Lives Matter, people from the Asian community don’t owe us information, we need to amplify their voices from what they have been saying time and time again. So, we’ve created a non-exhaustive list of resources, which we hope will serve as a hub of educational materials for us to continue to #StopAsianHate.
If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them – please drop us a comment below! We’ll sum them up at a later date and embed them into the main body of this post.
